Certain perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) have been connected to adverse health consequences, such as effects on the thyroid and liver, as well as effects on development, metabolism, neurotoxicity, and immunotoxicity. PFAS are also known as “forever chemicals” due to their extreme persistence in the environment. They can be found in very common household items such as nail polish, toilet paper, dental floss, cell phones, non-stick cookware, microwavable popcorn bags, carpeting, shampoo, and much more. While some artificial grass brands have been found to contain PFAS, SYNLawn has invested substantial amounts of time and money to monitor and safeguard the quality and safety of our turf. Since we manufacture all our own turf in Dalton, Georgia, we can ensure that our synthetic turf is manufactured PFAS-free.

Another contributing factor to PFAS found in some artificial turf is the use of rubber crumb infill. SYNLawn replaces rubber crumb infill altogether with an eco-friendly and safer infill called Envirofill®. Envirofill® is an eco-friendly antimicrobial acrylic sand and a highly effective way to control stains and odors by eliminating and preventing the growth of bacteria, mold, mildew, and fungi.

Typically, artificial turf is made from a combination of nylon, polypropylene, and polyethylene. SYNLawn is the first and only company to replace substantial portions of these petroleum-based components with plant-based materials. Since 2008, we have utilized renewable soybeans and sugar cane that have been locally sourced with the help of American farmers. Our partnership with them allows us to create eco-friendly, low-maintenance synthetic turf that can be recycled for future installations.
